Luddite Wines – Vineyard News 2019

What an exciting time of the year all flushed, bright and green. Training and shaping young vines to form the backbone and arms to bear fruit for the future, now that we have had some meaningful rain these young vines will grow at a rapid rate and hopefully fill the cordon wire by the end of the season. For the older chaps here we need to thin out shoots that don’t belong and keep the stems clean and sexy and void of unnecessary growth.

Our Chenin vines are already flowering showing the potential of the exciting crop to come, a bit uneven at present but hopefully as the season progresses the ripening of the bunches will even up. Our red vines are slightly behind and will only start flowering in the next couple of weeks. Bring on harvest 2020!
