Once an 18th century outpost for the Dutch East India Company, Compagnes Drift farm in Bot River, is now home to Beaumont Wines, a family-run winery with a proud tradition of making individualistic wines from ancient clay-rich soils in the Walker Bay region. Founded by Raoul and Jayne Beaumont in 1993, the business is now run by son Sebastian Beaumont. With merely 34 hectares under vine, the vast majority of the 400-hectare farm is pristine fynbos-rich mountainside, part of the Groenlandberg Conservancy in the Kogelberg Biosphere. The farm is a treasure for both nature- and culture-lovers. The historic water mill is being restored to produce a limited amount of stone ground whole wheat flour while two beautifully restored historic cottages offer authentic farm accommodation.
The Beaumont range of fine wines focuses on cool climate Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, Mourvédre and Shiraz/Mourvédre blend.
The Beaumont Hope Marguerite, a naturally fermented and barrel matured Chenin Blanc has become one of the Cape’s benchmark wines. Wine Journalist Tim Atkins says ““Rightly awarded Five Stars in the recent edition of South Africa’s Platter Guide, this is a sublime Cape Chenin Blanc.”
Our red flagship, the Vitruvian, is a pure reflection of a Beaumont red blend that aims to capture the essence of the Bot River terroir.
There is also the delicious every day drinking Raoul’s Range which includes a White Blend, Rose and a Red blend. The portfolio is rounded off with two sweet wines, a Cape Vintage(port style) and the Goutte D’Or noble late harvest.
The Beaumont Venue brings together breath-taking spaces, award winning wines and delectable food supplied by our in house caterers, Zest Catering. Celebrate under magnificent gum trees, in the original barrel cellar, or beside the turning watermill.
